Stan & Ollieby GeneralEComment: I voted this a 6. I was about to hit 5, meaning to me "decent shot, focused, some thought clearly went into it, but not a stunner" when I read the title.
Now, I don't usually like the title to tell the story, but when I looked back up it was just so perfect I laughed. Not LOL laughed, but literally out loud. And that was worth another point. :)
That said, I agree with some of the commenters about missing the ground and the light at the bottom. |

Cheryl's Smileby albc28Comment: Just from the 3 comments I've read, you're getting the idea that nothing will please everyone. I gave this a 6. In the context of this challenge, that meant you'd chosen something that interested me, and done a pretty good job with it. And I still feel that way.
Unless this is the full frame, try a few different crops - looser, landscape, etc. And then post them in a thread in the forums and invite comment.
Keep it up! |

Crying, Waiting, Hopingby albc28Comment: I'll go with what ericwoo said below, but mostly I want to comment that this is a very emotional pose. And retreating to the sanctity of your bathroom when your heart's broken seems natural enough. Nice job! |

The Bug Stops Hereby scalvertComment: Man, you just continue to amaze me. You didn't intend to enter the flowers challenge. Bang! Ribbon. You almost apologized for winning in the fireworks challenge. Your ribbon in magic & mystery came despite your own complaints about the technicals.
And now you drop a bug on your daughter and get a score that most would kill for.
We need to distill whatever it is you've got and give it out as an incentive to re-up membership. And I've already read your "how to win a ribbon thread," so don't refer me there. :) |

Beside Still Watersby mpetersComment: I rarely say this, but I'm truly stunned at this score. I think your star shot is better than mine! I got a comment early on that suggested someone thought I'd cloned in some stars, so I asked for validation. Maybe you can try that the next time someone starts questioning your shot.
It'll also help for folks who've never taken a night shot like this and don't understand just how much light a sensor absorbs over a long exposure. I can't speak for you, but my shot definitely shows more light, stars, and details in the mountains than I saw with my eyes.
If you'd be willing, I'd love to see your original. Mine is here:
Maybe we could collaborate on a tutorial. :) |

Day4by FayeaComment: My first thought was "wow - HOW did she make her whole body disappear?"
Then I realized that was a foot. LOL! |

Dont burst my bubble !by David NewlandComment: I really liked this shot - voted it a 7. I also requested the DQ validation, because I didn't get the half-inverted reflection. I was delighted when it was validated, though, because it meant you'd caught something really intriguing! Hope it didn't cause you too much stress. I had someone comment on mine suggesting I'd faked something, so I was glad to get it validated.
Then I came looking for it after the challenge was over.
Any idea what's going there? Do your other shots have that effect? |
