Always loved the way bubbles reflect images in a spectrum of vivid colours.
They also leave a great \" ghost \" shortly after they burst for a split second ( literally !! )
They arent the easiest things in the world to work with, but with a little patience and playing with different apetures, shutter speeds and focus I was happy with this capture of the moment a bubble burst and slowly begins to disintegrate

Cropped, resized, sharpened and curve tool used.

Post Challenge :

Ouch !
Didnt do so well this time !
But still had fun making it anyway ;)
For those of you interested in how I did it, basically I just used manual focus and burst mode following the bubble around until it burst ! I have an entire series but felt this was the best of the lot. For more bubble fun I uploaded some to my ftp site at //www.davidnewland.net/Bubbles.zip

And for those of you who said you didnt like the background, you need a dark background to make the bubble stand out. I tried ones with the bubbles against the sky and it really doesnt have the same presence.
I decided on this size crop as to me if it's cropped any more you lose the sense of perspective.
Thanks for those who liked it. And congrats as always to the ribbons !

Thanks levyj413,
Am flattered you asked for a validation !!
I'm not sure about the inverted reflection either.. UNLESS somehow the face of the bubble is reflecting the image from the back of the bubble since the top of the bubble has burst and possibly changed the rules of it's reflection ?
I'm probably wrong though !
Anyone else ?

I really liked this shot - voted it a 7. I also requested the DQ validation, because I didn't get the half-inverted reflection. I was delighted when it was validated, though, because it meant you'd caught something really intriguing! Hope it didn't cause you too much stress. I had someone comment on mine suggesting I'd faked something, so I was glad to get it validated.

Then I came looking for it after the challenge was over.

Any idea what's going there? Do your other shots have that effect?

WOW. You caught this bubble right as it was popping? I can't wait to see how fast the shutter was! I'm not understanding why the reflection is partly inverted, though.

I hope you tell us how you did it in your photog's comments. :)

Nice fun image. Notice this had to be validated. Interested because I understand the reflections of bubbles so didn't even think twice about it. Those type are fun to play with. Just doesn't hold enough intrest. Maybe if it wasn't center framed. and maybe if it was larger in the frame.

Perfect timing! I like how the refraction/reflection splits the view half upside down, half rightside up. You could crop even closer as the background doesn't contribute a lot.
