I think your score suffered for the slight blurring and how her hair disappears into the background.

On your camera (mine, too), try this: hold up your hand where you expect your eyes to be, press the shutter halfway, then press the manual focus lock. Then set the timer to take 10 shots. It's very hard to get your face in exactly the right position, esp. that close up, where slight changes make large focus differences. But taking 10 shots gives you a better chance of nailing one of them.

I regularly take multiple shots like this.

Also, since you seem to be holding something interesting, I'd suggest using a smaller aperture (larger f-number) and getting that in focus, too.
