Sharp as a Tack!by Art RoflmaoComment: Your camera, uh, seems to have a wee bit of a backfocus problem. I mean, you obviously meant to focus on the detail-free area 1/142 mm in front of where it did focus. ;) |

Day 3 - Bird and Rainbowby Bruce_the_RobertComment: WOW, that is a gorgeous shot. So ... I don't the right word. Evocative? Provocative? It takes the mystery of a rainbow, where no matter how strong it is, it's just still a little too dim to see clearly, and turns into a brilliant streak daring you not to look. And that bird! It could be anything, from a random wanderer to a minion of hell come to take all the color out of the world.
Or sumthin'. ;) |

Hear that Train a Comin'by SandyPComment: Ahhhh, now THIS is using blur. :) It's a nice abstract until you look a little closer, and then train seems to zooooooooooom! |

Calm in a Spinning Worldby SandyPComment: It's a fun experiment, for sure. I think the trick is to find ways to use blur to effectively tell the story you want to tell. In other words, it's just like every other photographic and editing technique. :)
Here, this strikes me mostly as a gimmick, although the title makes a nice save. That's not bad, it's just an experiment that can help you think about to use it better. I mean, my first shot for this project was just an experiment, too. |

sad bananasby rendComment: Ouch. This was one of my favorites. It's still a great shot, but take the DQ as the learning experience that it is. You're far from the first person who wasn't quite sure how the rules worked and got DQd, so no one will think less of you.
Essentially, basic editing means absolutely no selections. Just stay away from the lasso, marquee, dodge, burn, and anything else where you're tweaking individual pixels.
You can do all of those things in advanced editing, though, which is one advantage of paying the membership fee.
I look forward to seeing more of your creative work! :) |
