I am betting I am not the first to say they do not like the digital art effect. Looking at the composition of the shot I feel it likely would have done much better without the effect. Good luck in the challenge.

Not a fan of the desat effect you used, to me it would have looked nicer to leave the water and sky normal. I also noticed there is some of the desat layer that did not get removed around the ship which just makes the sky look dirty. Overall I do however like the composition of the shot wtih the ship framed by the chain and post.

That is a icy cold scene, glad I am not out in that. I always find ice coated trees interesting but hard to give them wow when it comes to taking pictures. For me I thinks the angle of this shot is just to generic and feels more like a snap shot. I think changing angles to get a more of an abstract feel and adding some lighting to help bring out the colors may have helped.
