The colors and tones work great together. The red plate is just enough of a jolt to give the photo life. Without the red plate I think I might have missed how brilliant the yellow of the eyes is.

Make sure he gets a copy of this photo for his photo album... so his kids can laugh at him too! Of course he'll have fabricated some intricate story to accompany the photo that will make him out to be an extreme ATV'er, and there was no bridge for 30 miles. My dad has a similar photo from when he and the boys would go out in their Jeeps.
