overlordby tangueraComment: I'm gonna be brutally honest here, it was the processing of this image that kept it out of the 6s. In my opinion, this doesn't live up to the quality you normally produce. Normally your photos are crisp, clean, and carefully processed to perfection. That is not the case for this photo.
If I lean way back in my chair (or squint), this photo looks pretty good. I can see where you were trying to take it with the contrast and the colors. Unfortunately, it looks messy when viewed normally. By messy, I mean a couple things:
1. The amount of processing that was done to it has reduced the sharpeness. Or maybe this was a crop? Noise cleaner maybe? I'm not sure what the cause is, but except for the edges of things, everything else is fuzzy. Look at the tops of the buildings, and then look at the building's main structure. You could cut a tomato on the building edges, but the buildings themselves aren't equally as crisp.
2. A heavy hand appears to have been used in the burning.
Overall, it has many of the qualities that many complain about "Topaz" images. I don't know if you used Topaz on this, but it certainly has that "Topaz overdose" appearance to me. I've done it many times myself with much the same voter results. |

The Hoarder by Samantha_TComment: Originally posted by sfalice: Unlike PAUL, I have a complete "like" for the foreground tail.
As well as the rest of your well designed and executed composition.
Nice work. |
I'm with Alice here, I love the foreground tail. The one I have a problem with is the one from the cat sitting on your head. It's really more of the butt region I think that bothers me, because it's too flat. Every other cat in the room is totally believable, but that flat bit on the butt of the one on your head seems off. That is the only issue I see with this image. Everything else is perfectly executed. |

the gatheringby tnunComment: There's a pretty substantial loss of detail in this photo. It borderlines on a painting effect of some sort, but doesn't go far enough for me to think, "painting." It stops just shy of that, and I think, well, what I'm saying here. |

Eleven Ways I've Viewed My Worldby glad2badadComment: I might have thrown a reflector in the foreground to brighten up the front lenses, but otherwise, nicely done. The lenses are arranged in an interesting way, and it's very clean. |

small pond delightby mariucaComment: Great abstract piece. My first instinct was to flip it up-side-down. I took a screenshot and was flipping it around in Photoshop. I can't honestly say that I like any of the other orientations better. I can easily see this photo, in any orientation, on a wall somewhere. |

The Caribbean Seaby flahermaComment: There's not much separation between the sand and water contrast-wise. I know he's standing on land, but I have to keep telling my brain that every time I look at it. My instinctual brain doesn't believe me, which is causing me to get stuck looking at his feet rather than enjoying the photo as a whole. I think just burning the edge of the land to create a subtle dark line would help with this. |

620 Foot Plungeby bhugeComment: As someone that lives in Oregon, I've seen a lot of this waterfall. I'm not voting, but I have to ask myself, if I were to shoot this shot, what would I do to separate mine from the rest of the photos? This is well executed, but it doesn't stand out from every other photo I've seen of this falls.
I must admit, I don't know how I would shoot this differently. I know, not a whole lot of help, sorry. In summary, nice photo, but you're boring the locals. :) |
