The Pearby birdyblueComment: This has a great painting feel to it. Love the colors. Good choice in composition. I don't think the stem could be pointed in a better direction. It's just a pleasant photo overall. |

Amandaby MadukesComment: That blue eye is truely perplexing. Normally you can understand why someone did something, but I just don't get it. You say it was to accent the black around the eyes, but why one eye? |

Through the Blazeby ZoomdakComment: I agree with the posters below. This shot could sell given the right venue. I can honestly say I've never seen a photo quite like it. It's an excellent representation of the heat firefighters endure. Those waves are intense!
On a technical standpoint I think the photo could use a little cropping. As it is right now the left shingles in the frame compete for my attention. I'd take a 640 crop from the lower right. That takes some off the top and some off the left. You lose that lick of fire coming in from the top which I really like, but I think it improves the photo as a whole.
Hindsight: Actually the more I flip between my trial edit and yours I don't know which I like better! It's a great photo either way.

DSC_3510.jpgby Nikolai1024Comment: I really like this shot beyond it being a "people shot." I guess it's just a beautiful thing to see all those great photographers lined up in such an amazing location. I think with a little color and lighting manipulation this could be a definate wow at least to fellow photographers. |

Bee at schoolby rossglendaComment: Sorry to see you scored so low. You were in my top 15. I thought your photo was different than the typical bug shot. This has a lot of character. The exposure was a little off and your DOF might have been a little too tight for my tastes, but I liked it a lot. |

Golden Insectsby FirenzescaComment: I'm fighting with myself here. One one hand I hate those bugs. On the other my logical mind is saying "look at the photo.. not the bugs." My irrational mind wants to just give it a 5 and move on. My logical mind says that the photo has a special something and to give it a 6.
I like the lighting and the feel of a desert at sunset. The focus and DOF are nice. ...but man I hate those things! 6.. moving on! |

The only butterfly in Edmontonby weegi70Comment: The lighting on this shot is really drab. It makes your butterfly look old and dirty. Theres only one subject in the whole shot that is entirely in the shot. Everything else is cut in some way or another. I think because of the lighting, nothing is really standing out as a focal point. If you had set up a light to the left side maybe you'd get some depth and that center flower would pop out some. As it is right now there's not enough shadow for any of the flowers to stand out on their own. They kinda just look like a blob of red. That extra lighting would help bring out the sparkles in the wings of the butterfly too. |

Fleeting Beautyby faeryComment: Beautiful butterfly and DOF. I think you're a little underexposed though. |
