lady.jpgby SenayComment: I really like the composition and lighting you had going. Damn shame about the camera wriggle. It's so hard to get that close while handheld. |

I completely agree. Upon first look I sensed cold, but the sunny glow was comforting. I think this is a great visually encompassing image. There's something to look at in every corner. |

You did a nice job with the ambient light. |

Ooooh, Sparkly!by MaryOComment: 4.2?? Ouch...
This is about as dark as you can go without being too dark, so I bet you're right about the calibration issue for some voters. It's a pity they missed out on how pretty this is. |

low keyby StarbananaComment: This is very grey. Have you tried playing with the levels adjustment to achieve richer tones? I took it into Photoshop and did some sampling, and there's no true black. Is the dark grey your intent, or do you need to adjust your monitor?
Also to the floating head syndrome mentioned below, was she wearing an actual black shirt? I wonder if a different color would allow you to isolate it in the B/W conversion and let you keep more of the detail and depth. I have no experience with that, I'm just thinking out loud... |

Sunrise in Decemberby GermaineComment: I'd be curious what the original looked like. The lights from the boat seem a little bright and flared out. There's also some banding in your sky.
I do really like the simplicity of the image. It has great atmosphere. |

Dec07-Shimobashiraby Pug-HComment: Those are pretty cool, and your shiny car makes a nice backdrop. What kind of temperatures produce those? |

Fuzzy Writingby karmatComment: When I first saw this shot I thought, "hm, I didn't know pointandshoot was doing this side challenge..." I never would have guessed it was yours. That might be the coolest shot of a crayon I've ever seen. I really like the shallow DOF you chose. |
