Laagerby ubiqueComment: Thanks for clearing up the misconceptions I expressed earlier, Paul. It is a wonderful scene and vongrats on the HM. |

Laagerby ubiqueComment: So this is an eerily perfect shot of an eerily motionless herd of one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. Please share how you avoided being turned into strawberry jam by them while managing to get great lighting, perfect comp and no sign of any dust/mud/birds/clouds of bugs. Let's Cook! by DCrest01Comment: I love black cherry toms so knew immediately what they were, and find them much more flavourful than their boring red counterparts. Ditto the heirloom carrots. Congrats on the red! |

Fish_Out_Of_Waterby mattworstComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
A very good attempt at a deep DOF shot for the challenge, but there are many issues you need to address. First off, you may want to study up on composition and pay attention to what you could have done to make the subject more interesting to look at. I understand it's berthed, but there are ways to shoot a magnificent ship like this and work with the setting around it. Your ISO is reasonable for a mostly dark subject, but Nikon's infamous noise, even at low ISOs, is evident here. Also watch for the blown-out clouds, always a bugaboo when you're shooting both black and white in the same shot.
Hope this critique has been helpful, do some homework and I hope to see more of your entries soon. Feel free to PM me with any comments or questions. Susan |
