chicken-lemonII.jpgby kolasiComment: This is a quality shot and the DOF is what was expected by many voters in the Recipe (Food) III challenge - at least those were the comments on my fully-focused image.
The spices and the lemons really stand out. The perspective you shot this from is excellent as is the crop. |

Powdered Crumblesby colorcarnivalComment: I keep staring at this image and am amazed at all of the detail, texture, emotion and feeling in a powdered donut. While drawn to the center in-focus part of the donut, and the in-focus bit of sugar that has fallen off, the image still guides the eye around the frame and warrants an investigation and study of other other parts of the image and the composition as a whole. |

Sugar Coated Candy Reflectionsby andrewtComment: A very striking image - well-balance, composed and executed - resulting in what appears almost three dimensional. The lighting is fantastic and the gumdrops and their reflection seem to be floating as there is virtually no indication of a surface. |

Godiva Darkby MelethiaComment: Black & white fits this image very well and the exposure is spot on. The store is pulling the viewer in through this dark abyss. The barely visible marquis above the window acts as bit of a tease and yields to the backlit sign inside of the shop that is more alluring and captivating. There are a lot of right angles at play - from the stone path to the 4 windows to the placard on the wall and many of the items inside the windows. These are, of course complemented by the circles in the poster center frame. The passerby adds life to the scene as the chocolatier inside is barely visible and continues his work unnaffected by what's going on in the darkness. A very engaging image. |

Fiddle Faddle - Carmel Popcornby dsternerComment: There is an intense clarity of the kernels in the foreground and the shallow depth of field really makes them "pop" out. Please forgive the pun. The viewer's eye is drawn to the singular peanut that held on to it's skin. There is some unique foreground lighting at work here that gives the appearance that specific kernels were targeted to receive the highlights. An impressive image. Well done. |

dancing with moonby torkioComment: Ciò è un bloccaggio fantastico e drammatico. Molto poetico in relativa composizione. Bravissimo! Un nuovo favorito. |

Little Daisy in a Big Worldby cynthiannComment: There is a lot of unique activity at play in this image. First, the defined geometric shapes in the flagstone and in the telescope stand yield their corners to the soft-edged stones of the wall. Beyond that, moving vertically up the image, shapes become quite ambiguous and tightly blended together in the treetops. Continuing up the image, those shapes blend into an abyss and and then almost seem to erupt in larger form back out in the form of clouds.
Additionally, there is a strong yellow floor to the image and a cool blue ceiling. Bring yellow and blue together and you get green - exactly what exists in the middle-thirds of the image.
This is image is a visual journey in color, form and space. |

Almost Humanby silverscreenComment: There is a wonderful intelligence in his stare - as though he is not studying the camera pointed at him, but the photographer, his purpose and possibly the outcome. A bit of anxiety maybe or apprehension that possibly, if necessary, could convert to anger in an outburst. The arms and legs look extremely strong, though not quite strong enough to free him from the uneasiness in his mind. Yet, the wrinkles in his face and hands portray a sound wisdom. Excellent capture. |

DSC_0293.jpgby YomiComment: The sunburst in the shot is quite dramatic on its own, but the remainder of the image lacks detail and interest. That is not to say that this is a bad shot at all, but beyond the flare, the viewer is left with a black void base extending to the tree tops, a flat, blue sky and nothing in between. Compared to your entry, which has depth, color, texture and movement and allows the discovery with movement of the eye, this one is a bit sparse and directs the viewer to a singularity in the image that, while dramatic, is lacking in substance. It is a quality capture still, but your entry was more engaging.
Sorry for the ramble. Nice shot.

Leto 2by AzrifelComment: The diagonal lines created by outstretched arms that converge at near-perfect symmetry seem to meld into the beautiful face/head that is perfectly aligned with them. The contrast of her rich, dark hair with her soft skin and light, flowing fabric is simply amazing. It appears as though the fabric is being produced from the grains as the model moves through the field and is trying to engulf and capture this free spirit. Yet, the calmness of her expression proves that she is not one to be captured and controlled.
I find this shot totally captivating. Truly one of my favorites on all of DPC. It is just brilliant. Phenomenal image. |
