Spin Cycleby dwyllieComment: *wash cycle? ;)
I'm in two minds about this. On the one hand I like the clarity and colours, but on the other hand, I'm not sure this is something I'd really like to look at. And it also doesn't give any enough context as to what it really is. |

Pastel Explotionby ZhaarkComment: Originally posted by cobra_venom4: My top pick for the challenge - However, I am not sure why a DQ on this one. Clearly the explosions are a few inches from the face and I assumed there was a piece of glass in between her and the camera to give it this effect, thus allowing her to keep her eye(s) open while toner is exploding. With the fine details of the explosion the amount of photoshop editing doesn't add up for me. Now we may never know how this was done. |
There are definitely effects which look like images are stitched together here. Also, the shadows don't add up (nose shadow is crisp on finger). Then the DOF - the nose and eye are in focus, but the toner in the same plane is out of focus. I believe this may be a possible image in one frame using glass, but there are too many questions, and thus validation is definitely required.
This is still brilliant. And DQ really shouldn't matter; check this photographer
imantas and specifically
That DQ didn't stop him from entering more and showing us all his fantastic photography. Message edited by author 2015-07-02 08:30:34. |

Pastel Explotionby ZhaarkComment: Ouch.
Has originals of the other photos, but not this one? I say caught out and trying to avoid validation. The closed account also speaks plenty. Sad. Message edited by author 2015-07-01 07:05:26. |

Hesitant by hesitantComment: In my 9 years here, this is one of the best photos I've seen on DPC. I'm blown away. |

Light and Shadeby PaulComment: I'll have to decide on this one later when I'm not at work. I can't think if it's a shoehorn or not... I like the idea of light and shade on the steps, but the highlights next to the model are very distracting. I'll be more decided later when I've been able to think a bit more. |

Life In The Shadowsby GeneralEComment: I haven't been able to leave many comments, but this is the perfect scene for the challenge. I feel you need to have been a lot closer and also used a higher angle to be more in the style of Mary Ellen Mark (but I am no expert). Not that I should say anything about it, but higher contrast may also have helped. |

boy and girlby mitalapoComment: I love this. I only wish the umbrella stand wasn't there, but the scene is the scene. |
