Let There Be Light?

Comment:
Interesting idea. Two things I'd like to critique on here though. 1) the background is not very image enhancing. I would rather have gone with something without a pattern on it, maybe some photoboard perhaps. This background has a kind of soft feel to it, which is contradictory to a broken light bulb. 2) This image is way oversharpened, a little less USM would have avoided this.

Funny, but why crop out the upper legs and ear?

running girl exposed

Comment:
You've cropped too closely to the girl's head at the top. I would have placed the girl further down and a little more to the right following the rule of thirds. That would have enhanced your image immensely. I like the way you have captured her in full run with her arms in the air. It looks very natural.

Interesting macro, the color is very vibrant. The water droplets appear oversharpened to me.

Snail in the Grass

Comment:
The grass at the front is kind of distracting and your snail is partly hidden. A different shooting position might have worked better, or at least removing the distracting grass. I don't think the snail would have run away that fast :-) Good usage of rule of thirds and your main subject is in focus.

The crop is too tight, I personally would have not cut off so much on the right hand side, it needs more room to breathe so to say.

Now that looks like an old banana :-) Personally I would have used a different background, something without a pattern on it. Also the crop is far too tight, I would have at least included all of the banana on the left hand side.

Kiwi Rays

Comment:
Very good studio shot, looks like something I'd find in a supermarket brochure or stock photography catalogue. The lighting is very fitting and the set up also bang on. I can't almost taste the juiciness of this kiwi fruit. The crop on the left side is very borderline, almost a tad too much.

This is good. The centering of your subject, although going against the rules of thirds etc etc, is not negative at all here. In fact I find it quite enhancing. The sepia toning is not overdone, and the border is very fitting. And that coming from someone who is not a big fan of borders anymore :-) Good symmetry....
