Year of the Dragonby SamaraComment: The green comes over with a real mint feel to it. The figure is very prominent standing out against the black background. The bottom part is taking some qualtiy away from the image with the grainy green shadow showing out on the black. If this had been pure black the whole way round it would have been awesome, but I know how difficult that is setting up the lighting to do that. It is possible though.
Update: I commented on this on my laptop at home. Looking at the image again on my computer at work, the grainy green at the bottom isn't so obvious. Just goes to show you how different photos look on different monitors. |

A 1 is a bit harsh isn't it? I can understand you maybe thinking this doesn't meeting the challenge, that is a matter of opinion. But why a 1? You said yourself this is a wonderful and beautiful pic, where are the points for that? Message edited by author 2003-11-13 07:05:26. |

Stranger in a Strange Landby mbardeenComment: Kewl golden lighting. Shooting from the ground up does a lot for this pic, the perspective is very appropriate adding that extra kick. The bright light at the base of the tree is a tad distracting however. Going by the starry effect on the lights out the back the exposure time must have been long, meaning your subject stood VERY still. Good one! |

The Red and The Blackby MichaelsComment: Wow abstract, I hate abstract photos like this! That's what I thought when I saw the thumbnail anyway. But now I have it in full I find there is something about it that is appealing. The reds and blacks are communicating with each other. The curves spiralling into the middle bring in a kind of harmony which really makes this abstract a pleasure to look at. |

Message in a Bottleby SharonSComment: Very clear and sharp. Good idea using the net in the background half buried in sand, it gives it that old piratey feeling to it. The cork looks too new and doesn't give me the feel that the bottle has been floating around for a long time. I would have aged it or battered it around a bit (9) |

A Photographic Guide to Birdsby TerryGeeComment: Impressive photo. The detail on the bird is very prominent, brought out even more throught the shallow DOF. I know you couldn't have done anything about it, but the color of the eye clashes against the blue background. |

The Electric Kool-aid Acid Testby grigrigirlComment: The way she is pressing her arms inwards justifies the tight crop. As if she is squeezing herself into the frame, I like that concept, certainly something different. The idea of the projected lighting is very good, I especially like the way one eye is highlighted within the circle with the curved hair below it leading into the eye. I am impressed! |
