The Rangeby spiritualspatulaComment: Excellent job on the snow and clouds in the sunlight. No easy task to sustain the detail in the highlight areas. |

Twisty Mountain Hopby bohemkaComment: This is one of my top picks. A very good presentation of expert use of HDR. Detail and clarity are superb. What makes this real is the rich tonal range. You allowed the shadowy areas to exist. And, those areas have discernible detail. |

5 Star by dswannComment: My pick for the blue ribbon. Great colors, clarity and details. I think this is slightly too bright, but I think it's a function of not allowing enough shadow areas to exist. That said, this is far superior to others in the field. |

To The 9'sby Ja-9Comment: Very good. This is a good presentation of Golden Ratio composition. It's an inspired entry. 10 |

Treeby AmmieComment: Wow, right idea. But, the rectangle is too long. Had you cropped 75 pixels off the right side, you would have had a very visually balanced image. I didn't mark down for not have a golden rectangle. Still a fine image with interesting lighting and stacked hills. 8 |

Following the Curve of the Roadby sjhulsComment: I see the effort to compose correctly with golden ratio in mind. Good job! However....it is not visually balanced because of the shape of the rectangle. I didn't mark this lower because of the rectangle proportions of 1:1.4. Use of the golden ratio composition is best with use of a 1:1.618 rectangle.... sometimes called a golden rectangle. While you may not believe me, you would have a fantastic, more visually balanced image with an 800x495 rectangle. Hey, it's not an easy crop because it's longer (or taller) than rectangles to which we are accustomed. You've already clipped the feet, so a longer rectangle might have mitigated that distraction by directing the eye to that beautiful face. (Same problem with my entry.) |

violin headby jcb007Comment: A beautiful image with rich tones and an eye-pleasing subject. I like the composition, as it seems to comply with golden ratio concept. However, my only suggestion for improvement would be to have used a golden rectangle. Had you done that, it would have been very elegant. 9 |
