White-Throated Sparrowby vikasComment: Good photo! However, this may be a Golden-crowned Sparrow, Zonotrichia atricapilla. Definitely not a Golden-crowned Kinglet. |

Silkby ScapeshotsComment: Love the ocean motion implied by the silk water. Probably my fav in this challenge. IMHO, perfect comp. Love the moodiness and good detail, too. Excellent control of detail in the shadows and the highlights. 10 |

Evening Calmby markwileyComment: Very nice. Love the horizon line on the upper rule of thirds area. Harmoniously composed! The old pier posts provide exquisite leading lines, which take the viewer out to the tranquil sea. Exceptionally pleasant grain in the old wood, sand and pebbles. Perfectly level horizon. The sky and clouds are okay. I think the overall image needs one more element of interest. The leading lines of the old pier take the viewer out there and I find myself searching for "something".... a boat, an island, a light, a thunderstorm, a city skyline, etc. Technically, this is great, with clarity and excellent sharpness in the details. No detail lost in the shadows, nor the highlights. That said, it might be a bit subdued with regards to light. Yes, it's dusk (or dawn) twilight.... but, some dynamic light might have created shadows and highlights to naturally punch up the energy. For visual appeal, I have found my most successful landscape images to have a balance of red, green and blue colors. I mean the scene is what it is. But a green boat and some additional red tones in the sky would have balanced the dominant blue sea. I like your title. This is a very eye-pleasing image to view. |
