Bumping the score now, because I have identified this magnificent birds as a Malachite Kingfisher, Alcedo cristata. I expect this to be a ribbon contender. 10 |

The Colony by hajekaComment: Just a guess, but this might be a huge colony of Northern Gannet and many other birds nesting on the cliffs at Little Skellig, near Ireland. On a revisit to this image, I'm bumping it up because it is amazing. I especially like the birds in the air. 10 |

Join me for tea?by snafflesComment: Purple Finch, male. I assume the bird came for the sunflower seeds and stayed for tea. Elegant props. The totally blacked out background is not my favorite thing, but it does create a dramatic presentation and throws focus to the finch. 8 |
