The blown background only really detracts near the top where it shows through the leaves, IMO. It would take a pretty mighty strobe to fill this scene. |
| 05/25/2002 02:39:00 AM | Waiting on the three two by hokieComment: Nice silhhouette against a good, dramatic sky. Doesn't look to me like they're at the ballpark, though. Did you shoot this up on a rooftop? XXX behind the ump detracts, and the batter looking out of the frame doesn't work so well. Don't know how you could avoid the latter. A lower angle to get some more of the players against the bright sky, maybe? |
| 05/25/2002 01:56:00 AM | Double Ninesby RonSBComment: Very nice colors and composition. The overhead lighting works well except in the extreme fg, where you get some shadows on the fronts of the dominoes. A little more brightness would increase the "pop", IMO, and a lower angle might have been interesting. Top ten. |
| 05/25/2002 02:07:00 AM | Midnight golfingby arnitComment: If that's midnight, you must be pretty far north! Without the water hazard at LL there would be too much negative space at bottom (too bad there wasn't another at LR). Good thinking! Beautiful colors in the sky, and a perfect silhouette. Top ten. |
| 05/25/2002 01:54:00 AM | Boggleby DigiteyesComment: Very fine. Great colors and composition. Slight oversharpening shows in the lettering and around the edges of the cubes, and the lighitng isn't quite even (falls off at the bottom and in the ULHC), but these are minor issues. You did see "digitally, right? |
| 05/25/2002 02:31:00 AM | Boules at the beachby JonniboyComment: Good catch of the action. Better, IMO, without the third ball in the bg. Had to look pretty hard to figure out why the moving ball was "doubled". The reflection in the ball at R is a great touch. This would make a good B/W, too, with all the contrasts and texture. |
| 05/26/2002 11:03:00 PM | Mikadoby RemieComment: Nice one. The points are a little close to the bottom of the frame,IMO, but nice. |
| 05/26/2002 01:55:00 AM | Risk: The World Conquest Gameby chariotComment: Great game, although I've gotta say I hate those new pieces. Don't know what your oof head in the bg adds. Some black paper might have been a better choice. |
| 05/25/2002 02:54:00 AM | On Targetby jmsetzlerComment: Great colors, tack sharp, well lit and nicely composed. Why'd you rotate it? (Come to think of it, why'd you shoot it from below in the first place?) If you had a tripod it might have been good to shoot a little more head-on and include the fletching on the darts, but that's another image. Raising your score on my second look. |
| 05/25/2002 02:25:00 AM | 2 pairby Dangerous_bluesComment: You had some nice colors to work with here (whiskey, cards, greenbacks). I wonder what made you decide on B/W (this from a B/W fan). Some oversharpening shows on the cards and glass, and a little more DOF to include the logo on the glass in the field of focus would have helped since it's near a hotspot. |
