It looks a little flat and dull. Maybe another light on the glass to bring up contrast there and make it really spark while leaving the painting soft in the background?

Interesting.... but I just don't like the apple. I like the way the other disparate elements are drawn together by their tones, but the apple doesn't tie in in any way that I see. If it's meant as a contrast, to stand out, it's not vivid/different enough to quite succeed. I really like the lighting and composition, the leading lines, just not that one little thing.

Should be titled "Simple Elegance" :) The many levels of contrast, in light, textures, shapes and materials, catch the eye immediately and hold the interest as we explore the details. My favourite so far.

Blue

Black border is too heavy for the delicacy of the subject, but otherwise it's one of the few decent still lifes. The window reflection in the blue glass adds a very good extra touch of interest.

I find the oof watch case distracting. In a different area of the photo it would be fine, but since it's front and center it's the first place the eye tends to go, and being partially between the watch and the skulls, when the eye tries to travel between elements it gets caught again by that one element. Otherwise I like the shot, the repetition of brown tones between the metallic and organic.
