Lenscap earrings custom made for this shoot, by the photographer. I won't be quitting my day job. The model is my daughter, who was very kind to indulge her father's odd fashion request as she was getting ready to go to the prom.

This is my third DP Challenge entry, and I'm learning a lot about post-processing (color balances, some sharpening, curves, etc...) although I still don't have a clue about layers, masks, etc..

Damned fine shot! Definitely underrated. Great choice of color for the background as it complements her eyes very well.

A couple of things that might help:

Try seeing how it looks to bring her away from the wall by a few feet. It might help to eliminate some shadows and make her 'pop' a little more.

Try pushing your exposure up just a hair (+1/3 stop?)

Of course, I like the 'look up' thing too.. There's lots of hidden beauty in that suggestion...

For tips on using adjustment layers, I learned a bucketload from www.radiantvista.com and their video tutorials... SO helpful! You will NEVER go back. Start with the big 130MB one..

I then made an action to create all those layers for me and I just choose which one I want to play with... I usually do layers, curves for midtone contrast, curves for color casts and hue/saturation.

Very clever idea, that works well for the challenge..... You daughter is a beautiful model and looks great. I like the green background, as it suits the model, and is a good constart background color.....

This is a nice little portrait. The main thing that I don't like is the fact that her head is down which emphasises a slight double chin. If she had of been looking up a bit it would of worked a lot better. The other thing that would improve it would be just to adjust the contrast a little to make it pop out a bit. If you're using Photoshop you could use an adjustment layer with levels just to help that a bit and still be within the basic rules. Well done.

Good color combinations in this image. The lenscaps could use some more flair perhaps, but again, I like the black, green background combined with the skin color and honest expression!

Nice idea----the shadows from the straps are not good --also the lighting needs some improvement

This shot makes me find, and find again for the lens cap. The use of this generic caps struggle you a bit.
