Exploding the Ordinary

Wow - that's a pretty fantastic capture. Between the pieces of shell exploding and caught at the very edges of the frame and the hand in the lower left with the nutcracker making a nice dynamic line through the image, you've got the makings of a very well done shot here!

Okay... I'm having trouble coming up with anything other than... WOW. The detail in the trees, the silhouette of the hill, and the beautiful bright blue colors of... Orion? (I'm bad with constellations...) This is an absolute gorgeous shot. 10

An overall good idea, but I'm distracted by the fact that the little letters on the ace are upside down. I like the overall composition though, and it fits the challenge in a creative manner.

Winning Shot or Window Breaks

Beautiful. Love the sharpness and the composition. The more I look at it, the more I'm distracted by what appears to be a ball hovering in mid-air by what should be the shooter's right hand. ?? If you re-shot it without that, it would be an easy 10. With it, it's a 7 - I can't quit looking at that circle, and the fact that the highlights are blown out on it are even more distracting.

Hangin' Out

I really like the moment of capture - you've definitely got an image packed with emotional content. I also really like the composition of the two figures against the background, their feet placed almost at the bottom of the image. I'm not sure I like the high contrast or extreme color saturation. I'll have to come back and look at it a few more times and see if it grows on me. On one hand, it makes the subjects have an almost charicature-like feeling to them, which enhances the emotion of the shot. On the other hand, I'd love to see more texture in those blacks and especially in the girl's skin. A 7 for now...
