I would brighten the image a bit with levels by bringing the white point a bit closer to the left. I would also up the contrast with curves, but I tend to like by B&W images fairly high contrast, so you might want to get someone else's opinion on that as well.

Consider getting rid of the horizontal lines, I find them distracting.
