Even if the flower on the right is well composed according to the third rule as it is the other one and the distance between their centers my immediate feeling is not a of third rule composition.
I think it is due to the fact that the central part of the shot is still so interesting with the petals overlap, making the shot to be perceived as a symmetric one.

Going Fishing

But this is really different! Two kids, two friends, maybe two brothers? So similar and so different. Fishing is not the pleasure here, going some where with a friend is! Fishing could be anything else; it is just a case, an accident. To me this shot is about friendship and this is why I like it.

I'm afraid for the unpleasant, all in focus background that makes beautiful an otherwise wonderful shot.
