Saltbuck, the new coffee-shop :) I love the blue against the reddish brown. Are the stripes added in post or part of the original take? They are so regular that it feels strange.

At least you're getting people to think the same things. Same thing I thought, fibonacci, fibonacci ... I like it.

Hmmmm. Since you asked for honest feedback, Neil, I find this curious to look at, but I was sort of turned off from it at first, and, the more I look at it, the more I find it, well, interesting but not to my liking. That may just be a personal thing though. It seems so disconnected! It doesn't feel like a storm to me at all, more like a bunch of stuff that is not making much sense in my mind. And, it reminds so much of the swirly Van Gogh style (like "starry night"), and yet, the swirls seems to be there with no particular good purpose. Maybe it's because the rest of the scene, outside of the swirls, feels so still, in spite of you saying it's a storm. There's all the footsteps in front too, and other marking in the snow, and they don't lead to anything. The dark vignetting is quite overpowering too. The rather pinkinsh overtone makes for a soft, gentle feel that, again, collides with the swirls.

Neil, any picture that elicits these many words must have something in it, but I can't say that I find it all that attractive. Sorry.

Neil, how do you see this? What are your thoughts about it?

Nice! I particularly like the wing movement. Have you tried it with that blue area at top a bit toned down, or even cropped off? That's the one thing that bugs me about this picture ... that bright blue area attracts a lot of attention, away from the overall scene (I think), and I sort of am wishing that there were more at the bottom to anchor the whole thing, a bit less at top. But I may be way off on this. I do like the stripey colours very much!

Totally agree with Melon!

Anyway. Isn't it that the impressionist guy that painted all those haystacks painted them sorta blurry in part 'cause he couldn't see very well? That's like this camera of yours. Can't see that well, but takes a beautiful picture.

Making the best of a bad situation leads to interesting results. Rain splattered windows are a wonder. I like this.

To me it's a very scary picture. It feels like a crash about to happen. That's good (to my mind), strong feelings come from looking at it.

I don't consider it cheating one bit, unless you're trying to pass it off as in camera when it really isn't. To me it's the final product that counts, and how you got there is important only when there are requirements to how to get there (as in the rules for DPC-Challenges). I think for myself, what I go by is, if the postwork is so apparent that it "takes over", then it is too much (regardless of whether it is colour correction, HDRing to death, or adding blur). In this case, the post work is quite convincing, and looks very good. It makes for an interesting to look at graphic. So, just enjoy it!

Zoom while shooting and not in focus? It looks pretty neat the way it is.
