17-40 at what? Lovely treatment. The sky behind the pines on the hill in back almost looks like firesmoke. I like the one lit tree to the left (right of the building), emphasizes the "normalcy/oddness" of the place.

Wow, how different from the other photo! A completely different feel to this one. I love the washed-out look, and the background that almost looks like a paper print of the same flowers.

Interesting how saturated you got both the foreground grass and the sky/clouds. The person also is quite clear and saturated. By contrast, the trees in the distance almost look like a silhouette (except for the bigger tree at the left hand side, and to some extent the bigger tree in the middle). The picture has an "unreal" quality about it. The square crop intensifies it.

I wonder if a little less black area at top would work better, probably not though. Looks like an image that you might find on a book cover somewhere. The colour reflected on the water is very beautiful.
