2013 PAW - Week 4

Very close. Beautiful hot colours. On first impression, I found that the shapes of the pistils and the larger stem in the middle (the thing growing out of the middle of the pistils), seem to compete, because the skinny pistils have a left to right flow, whereas the large stem has a right to left flow. I hope that makes sense. They collide in a not so terribly beautiful manner at top right third. Not sure what to make of that thought. The light flows from left to right, and sort of abruptly stops at the right hand side of the picture. It might be a bit hot. I do like the outlines of the little ends of the pistils (I hope that's what they're called).

Week 5 - Textures

Contrasting textures. The soft/harsh/straight lines of the feather vs. the rounded, just a bit angular shapes of the broken (what is that?) shells? glass? and sand. Beautiful way to show textures. I think texture photos work when the viewer can feel the picture, as if she were touching the surface with her hands. I can do that here. Beautiful.

To me, it looks too sharp to look historic, and the vignette looks a bit too much like it isn't natural to the photo. But it is a beautiful conversion to b/w.

I am a colour person, I tend to like pictures in colour (maybe because that's the way I see things ... a friend of mine, a B/W photographer, tells me he "sees in black and white", I guess people "see" differently). Appealing scene. The cannon looks so big!

Beautiful horse. Not sure about the almost completely blown out background - the horse looks good on white, but it seems a bit much. Even parts of the horse are blown. Not sure ...
