Christmas Day Glowby grahamgatorComment: I feel like I'm not the intended audience, but I do like the flatness achieved b lining up the top of the fence with the edge of the field, and I like the yellow light which seems to represent aging, and I like how the worn out barn makes the whole field looks worn out, but in a way that shows wear and tear as its own branching, spreading beauty. |

A winter morningby clickodakComment: there is an art to simplicity, if you can get it cold enough. I find this drink very refreshing. |

A Ride on the Quantum Expressby mefnjComment: others have tried the old "slap some blurry distorting effects on a boring photo" trick, but you do it well. The railroad tracks are utterly savage in a Modernist sort of way, while the sky is Van Gogh painting in water colors and then ruining it with his tears. All in all, it's a photo of Yeats's cold eye cast on this life, this death. |

Water Music by DistantColoursComment: I can't read music, but this photo benefits from a soundtrack.
Maybe this is why waterfall photos always seem like only half a photo to me. |

Christmas Night, Holy Nightby MargaretNetComment: What a strange vacuous creepiness. It's like I'm looking at a photo of my grandmother and then she suddenly fades out of the photo, leaving only an empty place that I will never be able to find. Further research reveals it was a frame from an old movie that my grandmother saw as a child but didn't remember until after she died. She was in the middle of replacing the actors with herself when the photo was taken. I hope she succeeded. |

Becoming transparentby markwileyComment: this is so photographic. the huddled figure walking toward us, the eyes covered in shadow. there's something so photographic about the way shadows clump together to make forms. Somehow by creatively combining two exposures you just emphasize that more. This is like a dollar bill backed by the bank of old feelings. |

tall dark strangerby PennyStreetComment: I'm tired of skyscraper reflections but you did well with this super high contrast treatment and the crosshatching fire escapes. an engaging abstract. |
