Street Levelby BradComment: a Zen photograph! the eye is not led anywhere, it drifts pleasantly over the whole picture, viewer is at piece with viewed. the purpose of lines is broken by fragments of leaves. In this moment you have captured, no one is walking to work. "To" and "from" have disappeared, leaving only The Way. |

Drawing Linesby vienComment: wonderful portrait. We see simultaneously the man and the mask, we see also the man as creation and the man as creator. The more I think on this picture, the more I see. |

Balancing Actby CutterComment: I bet your DOF cost you points, but that's what makes the picture so interesting. Congratulations on a daring choice. |

Small Windowsby spitfireapComment: wonderful expressive loving children and there's something comforting about the cubistic house and pastoral setting in the reflection. |

Riverbanksby zmaerdComment: I gave this a 7. This is not a typical neck-up giraffe shot. For some reason, this giraffe has personality. I suppose it's the extreme gangliness and the perfectly curled tongue. And of course, something in her eyes! |

Station Stopby levyj413Comment: good job. post-processing would not have saved you if you didn't pick a good angle and a good crop. |

Lifelines by e301Comment: Congratulations, I'm thrilled to see such an idiosyncratic, living picture win a ribbon. |

neglected houseby undieyatchComment: apt title. the house is neglected by you as well! it is small and obscured, which emphasizes its basic shape, giving us the illusion that we are seeing the essence of this house. The real subject of the picture is a mood, not a house. I'm beginning to think you're a master of the "flat" picture. Manet painted that way, to de-emphasize the sense of depth so that the viewer at least for a moment could feel like all objects were floating on the same plane... which is of course the literal reality of all paintings and photos. Urban Crunchby dahvedComment: It seems like these windows have a personality, since a personality can be judged by what we see and how we see. Clearly, these windows are fun at a party, like to have a good time. Look how skewed their vision is! Look how playful they are, not allowing things to match with what's next to them, tilting and scrunching them. So we see not just a funhouse city, but we also imagine the soul that imagines it (which could also be called you, the photographer). 7 |
