Sistersby dahkotaComment: I'm usually cool with noise, but this had a kind of overshapened low-contrast look that didn't work for me (I have no idea why sometimes I love it and sometimes I don't). But I still gave it a 6 for good composition and a wonderful subject. Those tigers have so much personality. This pic is growing on me! |

STRIKE!by melismaticaComment: ok, I'll admit that I wasn't really struck by this picture, but I did give it a 6, which is the same score I gave the blue and red ribbons. Like you said, the color matching is a nice element, and the strong geometry of a bowling alley makes for a good composition. |

A Boy and His Shadowby melismaticaComment: beautifully composed shot, and the film look is gorgeous. some people on this site (myself included) spend a lot of time trying to simulate that look. The road that is not a road creates a surreal sense of space. A giant child? A miniature world? perhaps he is looking down at some Lilliputians... seriously, the intense way he is staring at his shadow really makes this shot. I would say that's the "heart" of the shot. Often I see beautiful shots with no heart. I think another way to say it is the "so what?" factor. Every photo begs the question, "so what? what you take this picture for?" The answer does not lie in technical prowess (though of course that's a tool that can be used in its service). |

Deathby inutzaComment: the flies seem like puppets in a kiddie version of Grand Guignol. You make a real background look like an enthusiastic diorama. Well done! I gave this a 7, and probably underscored it. |

Shadows and Eyesby vprndsgComment: one of the more interesting photos of eyes that I've seen on this site. You use light to make the two eyes completely different. I gave this a 7. |

Jump for Joyby MarcelLainezComment: beautiful yet disturbing picture. a touch of Surrealism. I gave this a 7. I probably should have given it more. |

Silver Necklaceby 3eyedcrowComment: I am so conflicted about this picture. It's weird to see all those water droplets around the edge of the petals (I suppose they're actually bubbles?) and then there's that submerged edge of one petal. It's so strange, and I like strange, but I think the strangeness would have been stranger and better if you cropped closer. Even so, this is an imaginative, interesting shot and gets a 7 from me. |
