Penny or a Smileby Joey LawrenceComment: take care, if you process someone too much, you remove him from his environment, which in this case is crucial to the impact of your picture. |

Here I Am Day 3by sherpetComment: Very successful "integration" of your dog with the stuffed animals. And she is the softest of them all! |

Pyrotechny by labudsComment: Originally posted by BradP: Certainly a unique image here. I can only assue it's a lot harder than it looks to get several images placed in the single frame properly, as well as exposure. Congrats on the Aleks! |

MEby pipsqueakComment: You've the three primary colors here in spiraling circles... except the blue phases to purple, the yellow is orangey, the red is pinky... we see here some kind of intriguing intersection between purity and corruption. This would have been great for faceless portrait! Except that on this site, such a stunning picture will score low. Always. Not in spite of its art, but because of it. 9 |

The Grapes of Wrathby BeeCeeComment: This photo is so wonderfully weird that it insists on getting a 10. You get my purple ribbon. What a face! And the weirdness of her head being yellow amidst the purple grapes. And the old-timey flavor of the high contrast. It all works together for a mind-numbing yet hilarious effect. |

Woman in the moonby becky-leeComment: Now, YOU know how to stage a staged photograph! This is Man Ray quality work. You know just how much of the dark-painted face to show, so that it shimmers between one illusion and another. 10 |

Purple Girlby kristat123Comment: I hate selective desaturation. I hate portraits when the model is forced to do something unnatural just for the picture. So, why do I LOVE this photograph??
my latest theory: the purple does not accentuate a single thing or even a group of things, it infuses the entire photograph, creating an ethereal effect, and for some reason combines well with gray (a different color and the child would have looked sickly). Then there's the toughness of the child's face, combined with the fact that she is presenting us her feet. Instead of the usual vulnerability expected of the photo's subject, she is well protected, well defended. The flower-in-the-mouth cliche is all about vulnerability. The flower-in-the-feet is all about invulnerability. This shot is a 10. |
