the stuntby agenkinComment: fantastic. the perfect subject for a photograph. one way to create an illusion of depth is to emphasize the notion of gravity, which only applies to 3 dimensional words. Here, you show a Rube Goldberg anti-gravity machine, which also has the advantage of presenting a problem and a solution all at once. This is one of many ways to show what extends to the past and the future of a moment. Another is to show the immediate effects of something. Another is to show something about to happen. Such extensions are very important to humble cartoonists like myself, and it is a bit of a revelation to see it so thoroughly accomplished in a photograph. Also interesting is how the assistant hides his face, as if volunteering to be simply part of the machine, and then there's the punchline: the man with the tool, who takes no notice of the complicated measures that allow him to do what must be done... and the ultimate lesson, that this is the only way things can ever get done. |

a purple dayby boysetsfireComment: Beautiful, the foreground characters are only shadows, the background character is only in the background, the real subject is the incredible tension between them. |
