Nebulousby raishComment: The main cloud looks like a samurai, faced away from us, holding out his draped right arm and bowing his head slightly. His left hand is on his hip. I might crop just below the main cloud. The clouds below belong to a different story.

At The End Of The Worldby GunnsiComment: The zen of this is how it is not clamoring for attention. I really like the shape of the foreground. Not a bad score considering that they always want the shiny screamers here. |

Whispered Drops of Morning Dewby geekssweetComment: This is a beautiful, natural, subtle shot. I like the lighting. The texture and pastels of it remind me of a young girl's Spring dress. Sure, you could run it through noise reduction once or twice to smooth the grain, but I think it would be wacky to up the contrast, sat and sharpness to dpc standards. That's not what this picture is about. |

stone rosesby sevilduvarciComment: I thought this was wonderful, got an 8 from me. Very good sharpness level. Good tonal depth too. The only thing I wonder about is the orientation/composition - I wasn't sure I liked the cuts on the top and bottom. If it were mine, I might experiment with making the crop more symmetrical or else maybe rotate the image so that the chops are at diagonals...? Just musing :) |

Been there, done that!by GunnsiComment: Haha, I get it ;-) Her perspective is not one of awe. You did get some nice high scores within your histogram so some people must have understood. But mostly, you are punished for being too subtle and clever ;-) Sigh. Better luck next time. |

Watching the Golden Midnight Sunby GunnsiComment: This is beautiful. I don't expect more focus from a shot like this - and the figures are naturally distorted by the backlighting. Although I probably would have done the same crop as you did - because I think it's interesting that the blue dissapates - I think that Levyj413 below has a solid suggestion about cropping just above that lovely dark blue. It might make the color progression more appealing to the eye.
Edit to add, I'm horrified at the score you received - seems totally undeserved. I don't understand the majority here. Message edited by author 2006-07-31 17:41:11. |
