I feel like I shouldn't like this - he's kind of in my face - but I like it anyway. Good title, he does look lonely. The rocks in the distance appear concerned.
Starfish and rocks... all just shapes against their contrasting backgrounds. Or perhaps they are all animate.

Thank you for this degree of ambiguity. The blur is such a wonderful respite for the eyes. The stanchions provide visual support and also help to iconize her. The title works on many levels. Her pose is triumphant and yet she seems barred from progressing. She has the knock-kneed stance of a young girl but the willowy silhouette of a young woman. Her characteristics are masked but her complications are clear. She is asking Y.
