Can't Wait For Summer (my Fred Flintstone feet )by JoaniePComment: Greetings from the Critique Club.
First impressions are of the bright colours contrasting with the white snow.
Technically this has a couple of issues. The composition puts the feet centre of the frame but in this case that doesn't aid the shot. Overall it could do with a bit more contrast. Given the setting (snow etc) you've exposed this well.
Artistically I get the idea. The POV is interesting and you've chosen some interesting jandals as the subject. Other than that though what we see is a largely uninteresting shot.
In summary this has potential but that "wow" that DPC needs is just not there.
Feel free to PM me if you have any queries.

The Vase.by chazoeComment: Greetings from the Critique Club.
First impressions are of the nice vivid flowers
Technically this is not bad. The lighting on the flowers is a little harsh in places. The colours in the flowers really pop off the screen. Composition is good. DOF is good if you want us to focus on the flowers.
Artistically this is a great idea - it's unique, it's executed well.
In summary there is only one major issue with this shot. It doesn't meet the challenge very well. Yes there is a shoe/boot in the shot but your POV and DOF combined make it a secondary element to the shot. We see the flowers and go "nice flower shot". I suspect that's why you got most of those 4 votes.
Feel free to PM me if you have any queries.

Squishing a Bugby MinsoPhotoComment: Greetings from the Critique Club.
First impressions are of a great sense of scale.
Technically this is ok. There are a few areas that show the lighting could be a bit softer - the front of the car and up near the shoelaces - I see you used a softbox though - hmmm. The show has cast quite a big shadow that cuts right through the car. Composition is good and the DOF seems excellent.
Artistically this is good. Humor is often not rewarded at DPC. As commenters have mentioned, the POV could be adjusted to add a sense of drama too - maybe lower and more front on to the car?
In summary a good solid shot that I'd have rated a bit closer to 6 than it scored.
Feel free to PM me if you have any queries.

Old Houseby eddybabyComment: Greetings from the Critique Club.
First impressions are that the building has a lot of character.
Technically this doesn't feel it suits the "panaoramic" crop that well. The building seemed to need more space above it than you have given it.
Artistically this is ok, the POV is good as it adds a touch of drama to the building. I do find myself wanting to see more of the detail in the building though.
In summary an ok shot but a strange crop leaves the viewer asking why.
Feel free to PM me if you have any queries.

In Memoriamby capallComment: Greetings from the Critique Club.
First impressions are of the big blurry line running right through the shot.
Technically this is not bad. The exposure is good and generally the composition is ok - just the gun is far too prominent with the POV you've chosen. His face is a little bit in shadow and that is a shame as we have a couple of good leading lines taking us up to the face.
Artistically I like the falling snow, it adds a certain something. Other than that this is just a shot of a statue so not much more artistic merit to it. Having said that, it's easy to take a bad pic of a statue and you've done an reasonable job with this one.
In summary this is an ok shot and scored around the right range although I think it should have got a low 5 rather than a high 4. It seems I get your shots in the CC a lot lately - 2nd in a row isn't it?
Feel free to PM me if you have any queries.

Oh Boy I Love this Snow!!!by danculwellComment: Greetings from the Critique Club.
First impressions are that this is a great shot of your dog, lot's of fun.
Technically the centered composition works and the DOF is great. You've done well to expose this nicely given all that snow. As one commenter noted, a little flash would have been good as his eyes are just black voids, and it is the eyes that often makes these photos.
Artistically it's ok but that's it. This doesn't say much more than "here is a shot of my dog in the snow".
In summary an ok shot that meets the challenge. Lacks anything to make it more than "a shot of a dog doing nothing" and that is reflected in the score.
Feel free to PM me if you have any queries.

Angel by power47Comment: Greetings from the Critique Club.
First impressions are of a very dreamlike scene.
Technically this is a good shot as the result shows. I think the crop doesn't show off the model to her potential - square might have been the way to got here. There seems to be a lot of noise(?) in the background that is quite distracting.
Artistically you can't go too wrong with a model like this. Her eyes look very unnatural however, more then the entire "unnatural" look that the lighting/processing gives.
In summary a great shot that has heaps of potential but a couple of nitpicks held it back from the top 10.
Feel free to PM me if you have any queries.

Hoplite Headwearby capallComment: Greetings from the Critique Club.
First impressions are that this a freaky subject but could be more dramatic
Technically I think there is quite a conflict between the white snow and the dark masks. Because of this I find the snow grabs my attention more than the masks. Composition is good. A square crop may have allowed you to use more screen space and thus let us see a bit more of the detail in the masks.
Artistically this has great potential. For more drama I might have looked at a B&W conversion.
In summary a good shot that shows something unique but doesn't quite fulfill it's potential when it comes to making a dramatic statement.
Feel free to PM me if you have any queries.

Ushankaby SenayComment: Greetings from the Critique Club.
First impressions are that this is an ok portrait.
Technically this has a few minor issues. Most of these have been identified already by yourself so I won't go into these here.
Artistically this is ok but that's it. The pose is a bit awkward - mostly due to him squinting and not looking at us. I'm sure you could have cloned out the cord of the hat without any problems - also the design on the shirt.
In summary an ok shot with some flaws but it seems you knew about them all before you entered it.
Feel free to PM me if you have any queries.
