The DOF is good in this, maybe a little bit too large. If the orange and blue duck were a bit less in focus it would be better. The trouble with this shot, as far as garnering good votes for a Ducky shot goes, is that other than the ducks it is a bit bland. Props like shovels and maybe some "trees" in the background would help. At the moment it's just "some ducks on sand" and the colours etc just don't make this a memorable shot. As for meeting challenge, you tick that box. I wonder if the title is a bit to cryptic for a lot of people too?
