Penguinby tsteinmetzComment: This is a really cute shot, very well-done, and in any other challenge would do far better than I imagine it's doing here, because everything is (relatively) sharp. For a motion panning shot you need a slowish shutter speed, so that as you track the moving subject, the background and other stationary objects will blur. But wow, what a good-looking penguin picture. |

That Wayby MPRPROComment: Well done. Textbook example of motion panning, with good colors and an intense expression to boot. |

Skimming the Lakeby Baron152Comment: Nice job. The bird's body is nice and sharp, while his blurred wings and the blurred water show his movements. You know, I might have cropped out the land in this shot. But that's probably just me. |

reaching for a touch of gloryby qwhartonComment: An evocative shot, but nothing in the image is sharp. Motion panning ideally causes one moving object to be sharp while surrounding objects are blurred. |

Golden Lightsby floydroweComment: Gorgeous motion shot. No panning, though. Panning involves a following a moving subject with the camera, so that the subject is sharp, and stationary objects are blurred. This shot (while very, very attractive, and probably a high scorer in a different challenge) has the opposite effect. |

Water Playby photochild405Comment: I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that the concept of panning involves following a moving subject with the camera so that the background (and possibly the foreground) are blurred. This is a fun shot, but doesn't fit this particular challenge. Also, just in general, I'd have cropped out the lighter area at the top of the photo; it's a bit distracting. |

High Jump Commencesby kari1Comment: Nice job! His expression and his movements work together to give an air of intensity, and you captured that well. |
