I think the soft-focus came out very well. I think the highlights are fine, however people might have responded better to the photo if you'd used a subject where the background leaves were lit better so they'd have a more pleasing green colour, and the highlights wouldn't be as prominent. The dark shadows don't really help the image much. A good effort though. Met the challenge well.

This one is my favourite of the challenge. An inspired choice for an image without subject, and brilliantly executed too. Shows how interesting colour and texture can be by themselves. Well done.

Nice perspective. Guitar feels almost like it's in an aggressive pose: coming out of the photograph. I can almost hear a hard riff coming from it...

Itsy bitsy spider

I like the simplicity of this shot. The out of focus, uniform background allows the complex shape of the spider to stick out well. Almost has a 'zen' feel. This might make a nice print, or even a desktop background.

Tracks into the Desert

I like this shot. It's got a very "Ansel Adams" feel to it. Nice depth of tones - all the way from black to white.
The composition is great too. Perfect for the challenge. The tracks lead your eye right in.
Good DOF - sharp right from the front all the way to infinity.
