Our Rare Species (Helleborus Purpurascens)by vadviragComment: Welcome from the Critique Club:
It's been ages since I've done a CC, so here it goes...
Looking at this image I see a very nice shot of a flower. I think that your exposure is good as well as your post processing to bring out the detail in the shadows without blowing out the highlights. That being said, that's about all I see, a good photo of a flower. I think that compositionally the image is kind of static. The straight centered composition of the flower kind of leaves me without any main focal point of interest. Sometimes a centered shot can work out nicely, but in this case it not only makes it harder to believe that it is a magazine cover, but it just doesn't grab me. Technically the shot is almost flawless, compositionally, you may want to try some different angles to make the flower have more interest.

Attack of the Giant Crowsby ImagineerComment: I gave this shot a 5. I know that you probably were excited to capture the two birds attacking the child, but overall the sepia tone and overall technical quality of the shot are somewhat low. There are signs of over sharpening after your resize and the sepia treatment has introduced noise in the sky. If this were for the member's challenge, I'd suggest cloning out the ducks in the water and perhaps double check your brightness and contrast on the shot. I realize you may be going for a Hitchcock effect on this, but in my opinion the treatment appears to be trying to mask flaws instead of enhance an image with intent. |

Mysteriousby crabappl3Comment: The eyes are this blue. I created a new layer in PS and desaturated it to b/w. I then erased the b/w eyes to show the blue eyes below. I did a light dodge on the whites of her eyes to bring those out more, but did not touch the blue color at all.

I have no clue if you did or not, but I didn't vote you at 10 because I didn't know. Sorry.
I would have gave you a 10, as this is an extraordinary photo. |

Tunnel of Greenby PDavisComment: Nice single light source image. The greens here have great tones throughout. Not sure about the centered compositional choice though. 8 -danny |

Broken Lanceby sherComment: I like the use of angles in this image. The sharpness of the broken arrow in contrast to the others is very well done. The background draws the eye away from your main subject a little, but we can't be chopping down trees now can we? Nice image. 8 -danny |

Ladybugby ladpupmoeComment: There may be a bit of noise here, but I think the overall presentation of the subject makes up for that. Nice macro work and tones throughout. 8 -danny |

Anyone for tea?by jonpinkComment: Excellent. I had originally scored this lower, but have bumped it. The color, DOF and composition just make for a real fun shot. 9 -danny |
