Take me home... by crabappl3Comment: Thanks for all the great comments and the ribbon. My daughter and I were in vacation in Tennessee and had driven up to Cades Cove as it approached sunset. The mist/fog was beginning to set in. This shot was taken as we approached the park. I pulled over and walked back to this location and fired of about 6 shots. I used my Sigma 12-24mm lens @ 12mm for this shot. I spot metered near the light on the pavement in the left of the frame. Metering on the light itself or the beams caused the shutter to be to fast making the beams nearly invisible and the gravel almost black. We had a great trip and I have some other wonderful foggy shots from that drive we took with the windows down!

'THE VANISHED' Rocks Ft. Worth Texas!by crabappl3Comment: I have a lot of comments about the head being in the shot at the bottom of the frame. I had to make a decission, do I leave it in and deal with comments about it in there, or do I crop it out and deal with comments about too tight a crop. I was in a catch 22 situation, so I decided to leave it in there to give the shot a litte more depth.
Thanks for all the kind comments and high ranking.

Anticipationby crabappl3Comment: BTW, to all those who commented on the de-saturation... the dog is black and white... there was just a little bit of desat done for some brown tint in the image. So, all in all, there is very little desat that was done. |

Listening for the Rainby crabappl3Comment: Thanks, it's actually the 12-24 @ 24. I basically held the camera over my head, pointed in the general direction and snapped. This was one of about 4 shots I took of that field.

Howdee and congrats!
Overall I think this is a fine image. The contrasting subjects work very well. I do however have reservations with how tight the subjects are to the center line. I think that giving ample room in the middle and then working to get your exposure just right in the camera so as to minimize the NI, you'd have a museum quality shot.
Thank you for the original shot!
