Aloneby bernmayComment: I really like this photo just for the beautiful simplicity captured in this. A single tree does stand all alone. But what adds visual interest is the divide of colors. The tree rests on the "side that is greener". It seems to look out upon the barren land beyond the green line that comprises of nothing more than the golden hues of a "wheatfield" (or perhaps it is just weeds) Either way it captures the imagery of a fertile land juxtapositioned next to a barren land. My only critique is that the colors of the landscape could be richer in hue - mayhap if this was taken in the late afternoon it would make the hues richer and bolder. |

A Light on the Coastby KarenNfldComment: Beautiful Lighthouse scenery. Love how that white tower contrast against the deep blue of the ocean and the light blue of the sky above. |

Fall in the Texas Hill Countryby Mary Ann MeltonComment: Love the colors of the golden fields and the autumn colors adorning the trees. But there is something that lies nearly in the center of this image that makes it stand out as being a little unusual and unique. The green of the cactus as it lies low in the golden hued field. The cactus adds interest as that it is something one rarely sees or gets the impression of when visuallizing an autumn scene. |

Misty morningby RUEDISCHMUTZComment: There is something about the mist that makes trees and objects within appear to be in a surreal magical land. This is a very beautiful surreal scene. |

Empire State Buildingby digitalpinsComment: Adjusting the shutter speed to be a tad faster would have cut down on the amount of light let through and thus exposed the Empire State Building better. I do love how you captured some beams of light that shine down on the city (lights from a helicopter or plane?) It makes for a wonderful addition to the composition. I also love the hues of the night sky along with the cresent moon seen there in the shot - and I see Venus up just above the moon! (I tried capturing a shot of the cresent moon and venus a few weeks ago) Wonderful composition - it's just the lighting that needs a little work. |

Mountains in an unusual lightby andriComment: This shot is stunningly beautiful. I love how you captured the Northern lights as they seem to rise from the sky and then strike the mountain and bounce off into the sea of stars. |

Dawn at Godafossby nonniComment: Beautiful stark white landscape along with the cascading white water that is seemingly "frozen" in this photo. Our gaze is frozen as we look upon this beautiful white and frigid landscape. Wonderful job - the waterfall just makes this shot. |

Moon ... waterby LionsitalyComment: Love the cool bue hues on this photo. The water tower is in silhouette such that we just see it shape cast upon the night sky. Including the cresent moon in the photo just makes the shot. My only critiuque is that I wish you had included all of the water tower instead of cropping out the bottom. For if all of it was included along with a little of the ground plane it would give us a sense that this tower is reaching up into the heavens. |

Michigan Sunset In Autumnby Millere81979Comment: This is a lovely sunset picture. There is one thing that could turn this from a good shot to something that is spectacular and makes the image speak of something more. Had you moved your angle such that you had all the same elements there EXCEPt the sunset woud be positioned right at the end of the dock. Visually this would add poetic imagery of a trail that when followed to the end leads to the sunset ( a symbolic imagery about the life cycle). |

a walk to the lakeby tdeweyComment: I like the B&W of this shot. The composition also is very appealing. This, to me, appears to be a very nostalgic shot. Transporting the viewer back to days gone by when they were younger and used to take a stroll down to the lakeside. I like how you see just a peek of the lake between the reeds for if you want to gaze upon the lake you need to stroll down this boardwalk to get there - and our eyes must do that exploring. |
