Very different and unique. Wycinanki, Mon-kiri, Papel Picado, folk paper cutting of all sorts and shapes to create a pleasing image. Here paper is cut into shapes to create imagery of a flower and butterfly. My critiques on this piece is that it could be cropped more such that there is less negative space and the eye is drawn & held by the main subject. The second suggestion is to have had the paper butterfly in more vibrant colors similiar to live butterflies - granted the white popps off the page because of the dark background but a more vibrant colors could add interest.

Love the dominate shapes of the circles seen here in this entry. The inner blue just popps out from the textured 'pipes' (my guess is that they are exhaust pipes of a motorcycle or car). The black background really compliments that steel blue - our eyes are instantly riveted on the color and the shapes it takes. It is almost like 4 blue spherical moons.

Love the feeling projected in this photo. The shape of the cowboy hat is worn, old, and beaten - this imagery is conveyed both by the condition of the hat AND it's physical surroundings. The cracked and weathered bark of the tree that it rests on is a timeworn companion to the worn hat - both have seen younger days. The grass is brown and weathered too - playing into the theme of aged and worn out. Quite a different take on Shapes and a unique and creative one as well!

Simple bold contrasting hue of B&W present here in this photo make me think upon the shape of the woman seen in the dividing line between the black and white BUT I also see the shape of a curvy vase set on a white backdrop. Excellent presentation and capture.

I like how you got the title to relate to the shapes most present in the composition - very clever. Now onto the composition. I like the presentation of the idea - very strong in set-up and composition. Lighting of the subjects is very good and details are crisp. One observation that may strengthen the connection of the watches to the circular time clocks seen on the chart would have been to sinc up the times to match what is seen. The gold watch reading 1 o'clock matches one of the clocks seen on the chart. The gold watch reading a quarter to five and the other reading 3 o'clock are not visible on that time chart below.

I like the curves in the bent swirls that radiate out to the lighted circles. It almost gives the scene a sense of motion. Color hues of this composition are nice warm ones. Love how the rich brown of the ceiling complements the warm amber/cream of the circular portions of this lighted fixture. My critique is that I think the image would be strengthened if you did a tighter crop so the eye's focus stays on the main subject - there is too much empty space on the right and left.

Love how the title cleverly relates to the photo. The ball bearings are in wonderfully sharp focus. Not only are there curves seen in the spherical curves of the Bearings but the eye is also drawn to the curve/grove/track that the bearings are traveling upon.

A good shot of the underside of an octopus - one of which we get to see all the cicular shaped suckers. The red hue of the octopus also offers a splash of vibrant color to the scene. My critique on this piece is that the image would be visually strenthened if the viewer could see more of the head and eye of this creature - not only would it more readily identify the octopus but it would add more shapes to the composition- oval for the head and another circle which would be the eye.

Lovely bold hues of yellow and oranges seen splashed in the center. With applied imagination one can see the bird/hawklike shape in the center orchid petal. My critique is that the image could be much stronger if you had tightly cropped the image to focus the eye's attention on JUST the petal. There is too much other things going on off to the right and left of the image that calls attention away from the main focus. A tighter crop where the center petal fills the whole frame would have greatly improved the impact of the photo.

Comment:
Lovely colors and interesting shapes are present in this 'abstract' presentation. I like how the white circles are repeated and captured in the glass 'teardrop' shapes. My critique is that this composition could be improved if the presentation was a tighter crop - say a square crop that would bring the eye into a tighter focus on 'teardrop' shape. I think that too much of the 'stem' is present in the picture and it really doesn't need to be for it draws attention away from the main focus which is the teardrop shape containing all those sharply focused circles.
