Voted earlier leaving comments now. Great silhouettes here in this shot - nice and deep to contrast with the light sky. Love the mood that this creates - the windblown hair of the person and the very identifiable shape of the guitar as the musician is strumming really creates a carefree spirit. I am trying to figure why you would make this a B&W rather than in color. With the title being "Songs of the Night" some deep blues/violets/black hues would further emphasize the look and feel. Not only would it possibly add some appealing colors but the colors themselves if cool hues (blue, purples, greens etc.) tend to influence mood. The cool colors could further invoke the carefree mood; the feelings of serenity. I would guess that the B&W is to call more attention to the singer/musician which that it does, but the connection of night and songs at night is not as strong as it could be had it been in color. Nonetheless a very cool photo - one I could easily see on an album cover.

Voted earlier coming back to comment. Why, hello there Devine! I have seen her at Animal Kingdom and the way that they move and blend in with the vegetation is INCREDIBLE! It is very mesmerizing to see and watch this 'lady of nature'. This is a good shot of Devine with some nice details but I think it could even better and move into the spectacular category if there was better balance in the contrasts of light and dark. Tough to do with portions of her in full sunlight and others in the shade. If you had the opportunity, you might have tried to use a lower ISO (for more detail, less noise) and higher aperature (F5.6 or higher) with a slower shutter speed. The best thing to do is to bracket - play with different apertures and shutters speeds and hope to hit on a few that have excellent depth of field, great detail, and excellent contrasts.

Voted earlier coming back for comments. Great capture of this majestic lion!!! Love the details we see from furry mane, the whiskers, the hairs my the mouth, and around the eyes. Great coloration...the lighting captures the beauty of the shades that adorn this great cat. Love the catchlight that adds sparkle and dimension to his eye. I feel he is purposely posing; striking a regal kingly pose for us to appreciate his full majesty.

Voted earlier coming back to vote now. I see this young boy strolling in the waters with his camel in tow. He is returning home after a successful day at the market - everything loaded on the camel's back this morning has been sold. He is happy for he returns home to his father with his pockets full of money. This is why he choose to travel home this way past the Taj Mahal. If any thief tried to steal, they would be heard far more easily. This is the story I see with this capture. Love all the details seen in the architecture on the Taj Mahal as well as the human element (the boy and the camel) that brings a story with it. I also like the sepia tones that add to the look, mood and feel that this picture was captured on film decades ago. A memory of a moment in time long since past. Great capture!

Voted earlier coming back to leave comments. The cuteness appeal is very high with this composition!:-) One can't look upon this young cuddly soft little ducky and not smile or want to pet it. He looks straight at the camera and with his wings raised & the tilt of his head he looks like he is happily yelling to us "Look at me, I can fly! I'm on top of the world!" Great details and great body pose on your main subject that communicates emotion to us. I do have a critique...I know, I know....picky, picky right;-) The backdrop color could be more complementary to the other elements within the shot. Blue would be better on two fronts. First it would invoke the idea of wide blue skies - perfect when thinking about flight and the world. Second, blue is the complementary color to yellow - and that would complement the downy soft yellow color of this little ducky.

Voted earlier coming back to leave comments. This close-up of a mode of transportation becomes a study in shapes, textures, color and detail. Tis almost abstract when you get closer to show off the details. Interesting shapes, lines and curves dominate the scene. You have the good sharp details of the rivets. There are bold contrasts in color with the blacks/blues popping off of the mottled yellowish tones. For an abstract it is bold and clean in presentation.

Voted earlier coming back to leave comments now. I love how you composed the shot such that the small bridge leads our eye directly to the gondola at the end of the trail but also to the sights beyond on the horizon. The way you composed it with the bridge in the center acts as a welcome for us to come visually explore the scenery. 'Come, climb aboard the gondola. We will show you the beautiful sights to be seen in the city', is what this photo says to me. Only one other element would improve this travel shot and that would be a gondolier who stands at the ready; waiting to show us the beauty of the city:-)

Voted earlier coming back to leave comments now. Wow! Great capture of this lighting strike. You just did not capture a simple lightning striking the ground but there is also a significant amount of cloud to cloud lightning as well. Timing is always a matter of luck and patience when trying to capture this force of nature. So kudos to you for being lucky and possibly having a tremendous amount of patience to try and try again to get a good capture. Teh processing brings bold and vibrant colors that add to the visual appeal of this photo.

Voted earlier coming back to leave comments. There is very much a story behind this photo portrait of this elderly gentleman. I/we the viewer experience a level of disquiet as we look upon him. He is not smiling. The eyes that normally are the window of the soul are shut. The eyes are no longer seeing. Sights that were once common to him are now just something that lives in his mind's eye. As much as he can no longer see and is blind, we too are blind for we can no longer read his expression by looking into his eyes. Emotions are hidden unless he chooses to show a smile or frown. But we, the viewers can be blind in another fashion. Our discomfort may get the better of us that we choose to avoid this sight. He has seen and I am sure has many stories to tell some sad, some with joy and some that may even bring genuine laughter. What has he seen, what can he tell us, what can he teach us about life and perhaps ourselves? These are all questions that go through my head as I gaze upon this man. This photo shows a human interest story...one that I am sure there are more details to be read from the commentary that at this point in time is hidden to us.

Voted earlier coming back to leave comments now. The long exposure that captures the cars going by as nothing but light trails perfectly complements the picture of the city light at night. Why? Because it plays into the idea that citylife is fast paced; it is lights and action. Things do not move at a snail pace but can travel at speeds of light. Color and details are wonderful. You especially captured some wonderful defined details on the buildings in the backdrop. Great DOF that captures the look and feel of the busy city. Great job!
