Stranger Anxietyby ErinKirstenComment: Great lighting and wonderful details in this baby portrait. And that face! What an expression! He/she doesn't look too happy with the camera ' can I be done now! is what that expression speaks to me. Great skintones and you captured some wonderful catchlights in those big ice blue eyes! |

Latticeby colorcarnivalComment: The B&W was DEFINITELY the best choice for your audience to enjoy those tiny diamond raindrops that adorn this spiderweb. My attention is immediately caught by those jeweldrops. Love the detail of the spider's web and the way it sparkles beautifully with those raindrops. This is a beautiful capture of nature. |

Steam Locomotiveby NikonJebComment: Fabulous detail in this locomotive and I love the compositional angle you shot it in. The tracks extend right out to the bottom right corner. That careful composing of it in that corner diagonal gives one the subtle sense of movement that this train will quickly exit out of our field of vision. Love the steam billowing out for it adds interest to the shot. Great colors and a vibrancy to it. |

Power and Graceby njsabsComment: There is power and grace in the pose of this shot of this woman. The lighting on the subject is just fabulous - the shadows and highlight show off the power of the body structure beautifully. I like the warm golden/sepia tones for it invokes the imagery of a bronze statue - like an ancient greek goddess cast in metal. Speaking of that, I cannot help but see some similarities of the pose of an archer. I know that this is just one pose in the repertoire of a body builder but I now cannot help but see Artemis in this shot. |

Big Cat, Big Toysby TommyMoe21Comment: It's Mine, MINE I tell you! I have MY paws ALL over it!
I can't help but see that as what this tiger is saying to whomever it is looking at off screen. This shot has excellent color and clarity. Look at all the details! I could almost feel the softness of the fur (that is if I dared to touch this tiger;-) Don't come between a tiger and their toys ;-p) Great pose; this tiger looks very possessive of it's toy. It also seems that the tiger was enjoying his/her play before being distracted by an intruder. |

Seattle Sunriseby Mitch55Comment: I love the juxtaposition of manmade beauty on the Space Needle on the left and the natural beauty of the mountain volcano Mt. Rainier on the right. Two different beauties shown in this landscape shot. I also love how the ufo-like clouds also mimic the ufo shape of the top portion of the needle. Great eye to spot and compose the elements like so in this shot. I just have one plaint - the details/edges in the buildings seems just a touch soft/unfocused. The original size is probably razor sharp in which case I think the root cause is resizing and sharpening the photo down in one stop. I learned this tip early on at DPC - with large original sizes, resizing and sharpening the photo down in two or three steps (i.e. 4800x3000 to 2400x1500 sharpen and then resize again down to 960x600 and sharpen) will help preserve the same sharpness and detail that the original shows at full size. If that is not the root cause then a touch of USM (unsharp mask) could do wonders in reclaiming sharpness. Overall, this is a great cityscape/nature shot. |

The Wizards House by JohannesFrankComment: B&W tones are very dynamic in this rural shot. I like the horizontal composition for you get the great sweeping sense of isolation in the landscape this 'house' is nestled in. The clouds are dark and moody as if a great power resides in this land. Well done! |

Betel Nut Effectby jimboneComment: Visiting other cultures we see different things of beauty and sometimes the poor conditions in which people live. I have come back to look at this image twice before gathering up my reactions to it. At times I cringe looking at the state of her teeth but overall I cannot help but notice her smile. That smile is not only from her mouth, but it is reflected in her face and her eyes. Regardless of her conditions she seems truly happy and has a sunny disposition. Once you see that one cannot help but have a slow smile spread across ones face in a answering smile back. This is a great human interest photo - one that would run well next to a story about the region and the interesting people that live there - everyone has a story. |

Lanternby mitähäComment: That is one beautiful looking ship and there are two more sailing at it's sides! Invokes imagery of the last battle scene in Pirates of the Carribean: At Worlds End. The title has me trying to figure out what you want the audience to see. I think I see where you maybe going with this. The full frontal view of the main ship takes the shape of a lantern. Or perhaps it is also a poetic nod that this ship was the light of the seas; as in protector/defender against the darkness that was pirates and other unsavory characters....Technicals on this shot lighting/focus/details are great. Composition is interesting but I still have to wonder how this would look if you presented us with a grand sweeping scale - by that I mean a horizontal seascape that may show us a larger armada. |

Early Morning Flightby gsalComment: Nice cool blue hues; it really enforces in me a the sense of frigid chill that is in the air. I cannot tell what those elegant white birds are; geese or perhaps swans. I like the capture but wish we could get closer to the action. Bring us closer to the action; have us get up close and personal. Your audience can then also appreciate more details of your main subject - the birds taking flight. This is a above average shot but if you bring us closer to your subject it would move into the spectacular category. |
