Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

WOW first submission .. try to make this painless!

First Impression - the most important one:
I love this shot ... it is a unique way od doing a candid ... It is amazing what people take offence to ... so suck it in and see :)

Composition:
I really like the balance of this shot ... The lines in this shot work really well ...

Subject:
Meets the challenge well ... he really doesn't know you are there ... good shot!

Technical (Colour and light):
Hard to comment colour on a black and white .. but this is NOT a black and white overkill it really does suit this shot. I like the natural lighting ... Agree with the minor reduction in brightness ..I often do this and upping the contrast just brings out clear lines. I think that mentioned in the comments is that one commentor wanted to see more of the pictures .. this is probably in the DOF you used .. I think that this worked as it was.

To grow its vote?:
Every way is up ... this is your first challenge I expect good things ... think about all the rules .. you will learn them at DPC ... and take in the many positve comments you receive ... remember to filter what you hear - no one is perfect!

Summary:
5.259 173 / 393 56% for a first entry ... keep this up! You are good!

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

Interesting to do a critique on your image but it is difficult if you don't give us any information in your photographers comments. When we do a critique, we go past just the photographic result, that's what voters comments do. The critique looks at what you were trying to achieve, how you wanted it to look and what issues you had in getting the image captured and ready for voting.

First Impression - the most important one:
This is a good candid ... he looks interesting and it tells a story.

Composition:
Interesting lines created with this image ... maybe the background a minor issue .. but hey its a candid .. so what can you do!

Subject:
Meets and excels at this challenge.

Technical (Colour and light):
Good natural colours .. and a sharp picture.

To grow its vote?:
You did great in this challenge ... to get where you did ... and to get the meaning of what a candid is ... just keep practicing Candids are the hardest pics to pull off ..

Summary:
This is great ... keep it up you are building a great portfolio ... all the best.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

First Impression - the most important one:
Lovely stop motion with the water ... good looking kiddy with great taste in hats.

Composition:
This works well ... I also like the reflection in the tap.

Subject:
meets the challenge well .. although she does appear to be watching you ..that just means she is an aware kid.

Technical (Colour and light):
Sorry but I don't really know what you are aiming for with no photog.s comments. This is sharp and well processed.

To grow its vote?:
Candids are hard and something that needs time and patience .. and practice .. .you are doing well.

Summary:
Great shot ... well done .. .can't wait to see more.

This is a lovely shot .. a couple of issues that would help score better ... straightening the image .. using the window frames to create the line ... a little more post processin - decrease the brightness add a little contrast may help. I like the composition .. it doesn't follow the rules perfectly but I like to break rules :)

Window .. or picture frame ... is a little small for a windown frame .. well that is according to the building standards in this country.

I don't get what is being frame here ... "Frame the subject of your photograph using the window (as in from a building)."
