Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.
Interesting to do a critique on your image but it is difficult if you don't give us any information in your photographers comments. When we do a critique, we go past just the photographic result, that's what voters comments do. The critique looks at what you were trying to achieve, how you wanted it to look and what issues you had in getting the image captured and ready for voting.
First Impression - the most important one:
This is a good candid ... he looks interesting and it tells a story.
Composition:
Interesting lines created with this image ... maybe the background a minor issue .. but hey its a candid .. so what can you do!
Subject:
Meets and excels at this challenge.
Technical (Colour and light):
Good natural colours .. and a sharp picture.
To grow its vote?:
You did great in this challenge ... to get where you did ... and to get the meaning of what a candid is ... just keep practicing Candids are the hardest pics to pull off ..
Summary:
This is great ... keep it up you are building a great portfolio ... all the best.

I don't usually like comments or give them, but since candids are near and dear to my heart, I have decided to comment on every photo in this challenge.
Nice capture. Nice character. Tells a bit of a story. I like this one a lot. I would have cropped out more to the right and not used the framing you used. Still a good 6 photo for me. Would have liked to see it in b/w or a deep sepia though. Still, a 6 is one of the higher scores I have given in this challenge from the entries I have seen. |
