Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
Wow .. fantastic .. a true environmental portrait ...

Composition:
This is one time wehre centred plays directly into the picture ... with your wifes eyes being on the thirds line this really is awesome. I love that you did not ask the kids to all sit still and play nice for the camera as this would have removed the 'environment' from the shot.

Subject:
Challenge met, exceeded and extremely well.

Technical (Colour and light):
The crispness of the colours is great .. the lighting works so as not to overtake the shot. I would give a copy to your wife for her to put on the classroom wall and they can see how good they look.

To grow its vote?:
This is so subjective .. I did not vote this whole challenge as too busy writing papers for work .. but really this epitomises I think what was being sought ...

Summary:
Awesome ... well shot, well composed and well .. fantastic score. Keep it up!!!

First Impression - the most important one:
Interesting shot .. .not really what people would be looking for as a night shot ... I think that may be the issue with the scoring you reiceved.

Composition:
This is interesting to some and not others ... that could be the issue ..I think that it is a little small ... try to maximise your images to the maximum of 640 longest side .. to create a bigger impact.

Subject:
Just because it is take at night .. doesn't make a night shot .... yes it was taken at night .. and yes it met the challenge .. but the image doesn't tell me that ...

Technical (Colour and light):
Interesting shot ... colour is good .. appears to be a little oversharpened .. I can make out the face .. and its cropping appears to meet the rule of thirds.

To grow its vote?:
I don't know that this shots vote could be improved ... but I think that by taking a look at the other shots that have been taken and see what they did you will find other ways of interesting shots.

Summary:
Well done, interesting shot ... I like what you have been doing ... keep it up ..

Tulips during Night

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club. Thank you for the opportunity to criqitue your your first entry.

First Impression - the most important one:
Interesting shot .. a little much to focus on ...

Composition:
As mentioned there is a little much to focus on .. if you could have focused on a smaller area or on one or two of the tulips this would have created a more interesting and speicific image, but also created the focus point.

Subject:
Meets the challenge .. and does so very well ...

Technical (Colour and light):
I think that the comments you have received is good .. and me giving you more will confuse the issue ... take note that the comments are really good on this.

To grow its vote?:
Take a look at the other shots in the challenge .. and learn from them ... but also have a look aroudn at a few of the portfolios ... and try to learn from what they are doing.

Summary:
What a great first shot .. I remember mine ... not that long along ... a branch ... we all learn and this is a great place to do it.

Dancing Past Conifers

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
lovely, definately has the feel of somewhere worth dancing. I like the comments that you have received in that they have picked up stuff that I wouldn't .. like the french film angle.

Composition:
a lot of pine .. and little focus on the woman .. I think that it may have worked slightly better if more of the focus had been on her .. a little bit of a tighter crop.

Subject:
Meets the challenge.

Technical (Colour and light):
Nice DOF ... interesting crisp colours...

To grow its vote?:
I think that focusing a little more of the woman ... overall the shot is good and did well .. but I just feel that I want to see more of her.

Summary:
Good on you ... well done.
