Hi I am Kari from the critique club, and this is the critique you requested.
First Impression - the most important one:
I think it is a nice sign and meets the challenge! this is a biggie doing that at least. But what is the spark ... very centred.
Composition:
This is where I think you had issues. There is no direct interest for the eye. I find that looking at the rule of thirds helps in cropping a picture to be slightly more interesting. For this shot getting rid of the surplus stuff (background) and isolating more of the sign may have helped.
Subject:
It meets the subject and does it well. You are just starting to participate and over time will build up different ways of creating interest in your pictures, through subject and composition. I think you are well on your way.
Technical (Colour, focus, and light):
Natural light works well here. Lines are straight and defined.
To grow its vote?:
Composition is the biggie. Creating interest in the picture as well as meeting the challenge. I think you did ok ... with this shot.
Summary:
You are making a good and solid start. Remember this is only the beginning and things do improve .. and you have shown this with your scores improving.
