Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.
First Impression - the most important one:
Nice, good focus, great portrait work.
Composition:
Good composition, it doesn't rellay play too heavy of the notice you used for the title, and that may have confused the voters ... who are often confused :)
Subject:
Defiantely meets off centred, both for the bloke and the signage.
Technical (Colour and light):
I like the lighting here, would have liked to know what you actually used ... but probably daylight in the majority with a fill flash ... oh well :)
To grow its vote?:
You have found an interesting character - again. It is nicely off centred, I don't know why it did not do better, the grittiness of the colours and the reality of the picture may have counted against it this time.
Summary:
I like this shot, it is good for the portfolio, even if not the highest scoring. But this game ain't only about ribbons really.

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.
First Impression - the most important one:
The lushness is great, the first impression is lovely.
Composition:
"great shot" quote from a commentor ... and it is. I think that the ways I can see this improving include a different crop, perhaps working the deer towards the thirds line. The fllen tree works the horizontal thirds well.
Subject:
Defiantely meets off centred and gives the impression of being left behind.
Technical (Colour and light):
This shot is a little dark, but nature has provided and done ok with the lighting. I think adding a little brightness may have assisted, but it also may have killed it, so it works leave it!
To grow its vote?:
Top 100 .. I think that is good. It is a solid shot, with some good emotions evoked.
Summary:
Well done, I think that you have some fantastic ideas in your portfolio and come from left field alot ... keep doing it.

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.
First Impression - the most important one:
Lovely colours, with an interesting perspective. What a take on the challenge. Did you happen upon this or did you set it up ...
Composition:
Well composed with great use of DOF ... the details of the wood is fantastic ... and it looks like you can touch it.
Subject:
Defiantely meets my idea of a off centred.
Technical (Colour and light):
Nature provides us with fantastic lighting ... and you have made the most of this.
To grow its vote?:
You are in a tough challenge here, and I think this shot did really well, to grow .. perhaps look at the cropping, but don't panic is really quite unreal.
Summary:
The comments you have received reflect the different emotions and feelings that have been evoked from this shot .. great work.

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.
First Impression - the most important one:
Interesting shapes ... and interesting location. I would never have guess.
Interesting to do a critique on your image but it is difficult if you don't give us any information in your photographers comments. When we do a critique, we go past just the photographic result, that's what voters comments do. The critique looks at what you were trying to achieve, how you wanted it to look and what issues you had in getting the image captured and ready for voting.
Composition:
Yes you can say it is off centred, and in that way it works, but really it does not seem to take into account the rule of thirds, which could have helped make this shot, all that would really take is a few more goes at cropping the image.
Subject:
You have met the challenge with gusto!
Technical (Colour and light):
This is one of those times I feel like saying black and white overkill, but I don't know what colours there actually are, and how they could have enhanced the shot.
To grow its vote?:
It was a solid effort, I think that taking a look at how you have cropped may have helped to create better leading lines, and really is thing an image that should be b&w????
Summary:
Good shot, it scored well and is nicely now on the front page of your portfolio. Meets the challenge, and to me that is important ...especially with an out of the box idea!!!
