I'm not sure exactly what you were trying to do, but I'll give some input, hopefully it helps. Besides the spots on the banana, the reflections off the banana and especially the spots on the steps upfront. If you're using a lamp or something similar, putting a paper towel or similar over it can soften it quite a bit. As far as color temperature, are you using auto WB? It doesn't look bad on my monitor here (laptop, calibrated but seems off a bit) but you can get it better by choosing the WB manually or using a gray card (or wall) and taking the picture and setting WB to that. I like the shallow DOF but like the others would like to see it a bit more to the left. I'm not so sure about the open space on top, perhaps landscape would make the composition a bit stronger. I just realized how those look like railroad ties.
