I don't think this photo really has a focal point of any kind. While most abstracts are often unrecognizble, there still needs to be something to draw the viewer in. That and the soft focus probably would of kept this from scoring real well.

Since I see her name below, you might want to looks at Ursula's portfolio for inspiration, she has very good macros/abstracts.

The compostion and colors are great here. The dark something at the bottom is small, but does seem to provide a big distraction from what wuold be an exceptional photograph.
